If you need a new water heater installed in Calpe, you need an experienced plumbing professional who can assess your hot water needs, recommend a suitable system, remove the old unit and connect the new one properly.
100% Plumbing is based in Calpe and handles water heater installation, replacement and hot water systems across the Marina Alta.
The size of the unit should come from how the property actually uses hot water, not from the price tag or what fits the gap. That single decision is what determines whether you run out of hot water in two years’ time.

When should you install a new water heater?
Replacing the unit becomes worth considering when it is no longer reliable, the repairs keep coming, or there simply is not enough hot water. The usual triggers are:
- an ageing or heavily corroded unit;
- hot water running out quickly;
- repeated leaks;
- inconsistent water temperature;
- frequent or expensive repairs;
- a system that is too small for the property;
- hot water demand that changed after a renovation;
- wanting a more suitable or efficient system.
Note that two of those are not faults at all. A unit can be working perfectly and still be the wrong one, usually because the property changed around it.
Should I repair my old water heater or install a new one?
It depends on the age of the unit, where the fault is, and the condition of the rest of the system.
Repair can make sense when
- the unit is relatively new;
- the fault is isolated;
- the rest of the system is sound.
Replacement is usually more practical when
- the unit is old;
- it breaks down repeatedly;
- it leaks from the main body;
- it no longer meets the demand.
A leak from the main body is the one worth singling out: that is the tank itself, not a fitting, and it does not get repaired. The rest is a question of weighing the repair cost today against how long the unit is likely to keep going, because repeated repairs eventually add up to more than a replacement.

Should I repair or replace my water heater in Calpe?
What size water heater do I need?
The right size comes from how the property uses hot water, not from the dimensions of the old unit. Demand depends on the number of occupants and on how many showers, baths and sinks draw hot water, and it varies enormously: a small apartment and a large villa or holiday rental are not the same problem.
Getting it wrong goes badly in both directions.
Signs the unit is undersized
- hot water runs out regularly;
- the last shower of the morning is cold;
- two fixtures cannot be used at once;
- recovery takes longer than the household can wait.
Signs the unit is oversized
- it takes up space the property cannot spare;
- it is impractical for the installation point;
- capacity is being heated that nobody uses.
Before asking for a quotation, count three things: how many people live there or stay at peak occupancy, how many bathrooms there are, and whether more than one is used at the same time. Those three answers do most of the sizing work.
Can a new water heater replace an older system directly?
Sometimes the new unit can reuse much of the existing plumbing, but not always, and that is worth establishing before anything is bought. An installer would normally check:
- the hot and cold connections;
- valves and isolation points;
- the condition of the pipework;
- the installation space;
- drainage;
- system pressure;
- electrical or gas connections, where applicable.
Where the existing pipework is old or damaged, additional general plumbing work may be needed as part of the installation.
What affects the cost of the installation?
The unit itself is only part of it. What changes the figure is what the installation needs around it:
The property and its demand
- the number of occupants;
- how many bathrooms draw at once;
- peak occupancy in a rental or holiday home;
- the capacity the property actually needs.
The existing installation
- whether the connections can be reused;
- the condition of the pipework;
- valves and isolation points;
- the space available at the installation point;
- drainage and system pressure;
- electrical or gas connections, where applicable.
This is why a quotation given over the phone, without seeing the installation, tends to change once somebody looks at it.
Why local installation in Calpe and the Marina Alta matters
Hot water needs here vary more than in most places, because the property types do: villas, apartments, holiday homes, rentals and permanent residences, each with a different pattern of use.
A holiday property is the clearest example. It may sit empty for weeks and then house eight people for a fortnight, which is a very different requirement from a couple using the same amount of hot water every day of the year. Sizing for the average would leave guests without hot water exactly when the property is full.
A local installer can assess the existing plumbing, the access, and any related work before the unit is fitted rather than after.
